Journey to restore health days 5-6

The focus to restore my health has been Ayurveda, exercise and apple cider vinegar as well as continuing the herbs I started in the beginning.

Ayurveda- My primary dosha is Vata. Here’s a link to determine your dosha. The Vata dosha is prone to sleep problems and “is the most delicate” of the dosha’s. Great, lucky me. Well, we are also creative and often intuitive :) For my vata, I need warming, calming herbs and spices.

Here are recommendations for Vata:

When Vata is out of balance, change and movement agitate the physiology resulting in a sense of instability. Balancing Vata requires introducing more grounding and stabilizing influences. Think routine and consistency. Here are a few tips to encourage balance and well-being:

Mind

  • Meditate twice a day to quiet the mind
  • Look for opportunities to create rhythm and routine in your life
  • Go to bed and awaken at about the same time every day
  • Wear Relaxing fragrances
  • Listen to slow and relaxing music to calm Vata
  • Minimize heavy reading, eating, or watching TV right before bed
  • Diffuse relaxing fragrances into your environment
  • Favor mild pastel shades and earth tones in your environment

And, apple cider vinegar, well it’s good for my liver which is often imbalanced.

Exercise: I know that cardio workouts can leave me feeling anxious and ungrounded, part of the Vata dosha. Meditation and yoga is recommended for Vata. Strength training with weights is also recommended for imbalanced hormones, so I went to the gym twice yesterday and lifted weights, did a little yoga and meditation while Ferran is in the $2/hr daycare, which is awesome.

My success:

I was waking at night and having severe allergy attacks, which of course kept me awake for quite a while. During the day, I had many allergy attacks as well. My allergies have gotten a lot better. Over the last two days with the apple cider vinegar and milk thistle herb, there is already a big reduction in allergies!

Still not sleeping very well, but last night it was a little better. When I was awake from 4-5 or so, I was only lightly awake instead of anxiously awake with my adrenals amped up as was the case in the weeks before.

Still eating more protein, which I think is pretty key to feeling more grounded.

On facebook, a friend recommended a wonderful audio which I listened to before bed: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_imBtPK5HAw

May you enjoy deep, rejuvenating sleep and health with increase everyday.
