Inspirational Mentors. Amazing Humans.

There are some amazing humans who are the wind in the sails of so many mothers. They help carry us along this perilous journey of raising small humans into confident, compassionate adults.

My favorite for the early years is Janet Lansbury and Magda Gerber. They both offer genuine solutions and skills for the foundational years of parenting. Janet started her blog around the time my son was born. I was so inspired by her, I went out to Los Angeles to visit her RIE classes and talk with her directly, as well as 1-1 consultation by phone. I’m forever grateful to her for helping me navigate those early years with such clear, direct, heartfelt wisdom. My son is every bit as confident as promised from the RIE style of parenting.

Favorite foundational approach for every type of parent and every child on all functioning levels: Parenet Effectiveness Training

My mother took a PET class when I was an infant. I’m thankful everyday because I know it made a huge difference in our relationship and my level of confidence, compassion and self acceptance. She was able to give me what I needed on a very basic level of feeling understood, cared for and loved with these simple techniques in a way she would not have been able to do without them. Truly vital skills that I use in my parent coaching and as a therapist for children. I’ve had amazing success with these skills in building a strong relationship and transforming struggles with every child from highly autistic to gifted. I really cannot express my gratitude enough for this work.

Can I just say, Mr. Rogers! Holy moly what a human. Love incarnate. He has been instrumental in my work with children. He sees right into the soul of every person and never waivered from his mission to help every single child feel special, cared for, validated for just being you and perfect just the way you are. I’m welling up with tears just thinking of him. Ahhh, love.
